Allison About

About Allison Dahan
Jump to Education & Training

My path to Chinese medicine began with a Bachelor of Science in Physiological Science from UCLA, where I initially planned to pursue medical school. While my studies deepened my understanding of the human body, I found myself drawn toward a more holistic approach to healthcare, one that looks beyond symptoms to consider the person as a whole. I was especially drawn to the philosophy of Chinese medicine, which views health as an ongoing relationship between the body, mind, and environment, and recognizes the importance of balance not only within the body, but in the way we live.

I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (MAcCHM), graduating with highest honors from Yo San University after completing the majority of my studies at Emperor’s College. During my advanced clinical training in Taichung, Taiwan, I studied at China Medical University, where I studied Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling Therapy with Dr. Li-Wei Chou, MD, PhD. I also witnessed acupuncture being practiced on a broad scale in hospital settings alongside Western medicine, deepening my appreciation for the ways these medical traditions can complement one another.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to clinically observe Dr. Chi Nan Fang, founder of Le Pivot Cosmetic Acupuncture, and learn about his specialized facial microsystem approach. My clinical experience also includes training at Covenant House in Hollywood, where I worked with underserved and unhoused adult youth, an experience that further shaped my commitment to compassionate, individualized care.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that the body has an innate capacity to heal and continually seeks to return to balance. Rooted in the traditions of Chinese medicine, my approach is to work with the body rather than against it, supporting its natural processes and recognizing that health is influenced by more than any single symptom or condition. I see acupuncture and herbs as a way to help restore harmony when we have fallen out of balance, honoring the body's inherent wisdom and each person's unique path toward well-being.
